Introduction to Consumer involvement in Health research Workshop
TRI is hosting the Telethon Kids' Institute’s introductory course to consumer involvement in health research. All TRI-based researchers and Metro South Health, Children’s Health Queensland and Mater clinicians are invited to apply for this training course. The course includes an online module and an in-person workshop (Tuesday 30 April) run by Telethon Kids, totalling approximately six hours.
An amazing opportunity to learn how to incorporate Consumer Involvement in your research by Anne McKenzie AM, who will be facilitating the workshop in person at TRI.
What will I get out of this course?
This course aims to raise awareness of the contribution consumers and community members make and the value they can add when they are involved as active partners in health research. It covers the foundations of consumer and community involvement in research. By the end of this course participants will:
- Understand the value of consumer and community involvement in research
- Be aware of the contribution consumers/community members can make to research when actively involved
- Be able to identify how and where consumers/community members can contribute to research using different methods for involvement
- Understand what is needed to have in place to begin
- Be aware of a range of tools available to support involvement activities.
Who should attend?
Researchers at any point in their career will benefit from this course. It will particularly help you with including consumers in your project design (which is so important for many grants), and how you can integrate consumers at any stage in a research project.
Please note, this course is not about patient recruitment for clinical trials.
