About me

Dr Ingrid Hickman is a Principal Research Fellow and Director of Research with the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and the Mater Research Institute-UQ. As an Advanced Practicing Dietitian, Ingrid completed her PhD in 2004 at the University of Queensland where she explored the role of lifestyle factors in the development and progression of chronic liver disease. Undertaking specialised research investigating the metabolic factors that contribute to obesity-related chronic disease, Ingrid has translated this research into improved evidence-based practice in medical care settings. As a key researcher here at the Translational Research Institute, Ingrid's research interests include translational research, liver disease, insulin resistance, metabolism and body composition.
