Projects
Survival GWAS on prostate cancer patients.
This project has two components: The first component will be a statistical survival genome-wide association study (GWAS) of over 4000 prostate cancer patients with over 500 thousand single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). This analysis will identify the SNPs which show statistically strong association with the prostate cancer.
The second component will be a post-GWAS analysis, a lab based experiments on the SNPs which were identified as strongly associated with prostate cancer in the statistical analysis. Results obtained from these post-GWAS analyses will highlight the potential of exploiting prostate cancer risk-associated germline variants to identify new gene networks and signalling pathways involved in prostate tumorigenesis.
This project is a collaboration between QUT and UQ at TRI. The first component will be conducted by Dr. Darsy Darssan at UQ School of Public Health. The second component will be conducted at Jyotsna’s lab at TRI by Dr. Srilakshmi Srinivasan.
