High school students get a taste of researcher life at TRI

TRI welcomed 28 Year 12 students from all over Australia on January 16 for the National Youth Science Forum (NYSF). The students spent the day learning basic lab techniques such as pipette measurement, counting bacteria and the use of a centrifuge machine. They heard from various researchers within the institute alongside SPARQ-ed teacher Ezequiel Balmori Melian.

Afterwards the students were taken on a tour of the Microscopy facility and the TRI building.

The National Youth Science Forum is a not-for-profit organisation that runs a number of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) programs to encourage young people in their passion for science.
