SPARQ-Ed are Looking for leaders for September Student Immersion Program

The SPARQ-ED team are looking for TRI-based research teams to lead their September Immersion Program. 

SPARQ-ed (Students Performing Advanced Research Queensland) has been delivering world-class science education programs since 2009.  The program aims to actively inspire young Queenslanders to pursue careers in the sciences.

SPARQ-Ed are looking for teams that have a passion for teaching and building the knowledge and understanding of science careers with high school students.

The SPARQ-Ed team will work with you closely to develop a program that is delivered across five days.

There are many benefits of being involved, it looks great on your CV, you get to experience presenting and leading a group, improving your science communications skills at the same time. The students on the other hand get to see where a science career can take them and work on real experiments that have a meaningful impact on a wider research project.

If you work in the TRI building and are a researcher you are eligible to work on the program.

Dates for project delivery are 24^th to the 28^th September.

Your role:

We need your group to provide a research project that can be delivered in the form of a 5-day immersion program (shorter formats are also possible). During the first day and last day we would like the Lead Researcher to deliver an introductory and summation talk, and tutors from your group to oversee the delivery of the project at the SPARQ-ed laboratory. This is a great opportunity for the young researchers to practice their science communication skills in a very friendly environment.

SPARQ-Ed role:

SPARQ-ed will cover all expenses and administration duties, offer hands-on technical support, and a small token of appreciation to the tutors involved.
