Ride with the moores

UQDI’s Dr Andy Moore & his wife Robyn are riding 1200k’s from Sunshine Coast to Sydney to raise funds for medical research at the Children’s Hospital Foundation & the Humpty Dumpty Foundation. You can support by riding along beside them without leaving the air conditioned comfort of TRI reception!

How it works

The bike will be in reception for the duration of the ride which runs from the 14th to the 22nd of October. While Andy and the rest of the riders are out on the open road dealing with bitumen and weather, riding from the Sunshine Coast to Sydney, we'll be aiming to ride the same 120km per day for the 10 days to hit the 1200km goal.

As this is a fundraiser, we're asking team TRI to donate $5 to book a 15 minute slot on the bike and then ride for that 15 minute slot to contribute to the 120km per day goal. Can't ride? You can nominate someone else and still have a chance to win the bike.

Here's the simple explanation...

15 minute slots. $5 each.

  • Nominate yourself > pay > ride > 2 tickets
  • Nominate someone else > pay > 1 ticket
  • Accept nomination > ride > 1 ticket

How to book

Cassie at TRI reception will make your booking for you and collect your $5 payments. You can email your preferred time or drop in to reception during quiet periods to see all available slots.

If you are nominating someone else, they have to accept the nomination before payment will be accepted.

The Prize

The winner of the raffle will win the spin bike used in the competition. It is a brand new bike with warranty and already built by our Comms & Marketing Director's husband! It will have ridden a little more than 1200km during the contest so it's a prize that comes with an extra special story too! When Andy returns from his ride, we will host a morning tea and draw a name to win the bike.

"Why 1200k's? Because as a Paediatric Oncologist at the Lady Cilento Children's Hospital (LCCH), I see first-hand how the Children's Hospital Foundation helps improve the lives of sick kids, whether it be through hospital entertainment, equipment, volunteer services or funding research programs such as the Queensland Children's Tumour Bank. With children and adolescents from across Queensland and Northern NSW all coming to LCCH for life-saving treatment, I also know just how important the work of the Humpty Dumpty Foundation is when it comes to supporting children's hospital services in rural and regional areas."
