Mater Research Seminar Series

"The use of mouse periodontitis models for the development of anti-osteoclast strategies" presented by Youngkyun Lee Ph.D.

Youngkyun Lee is the Assistant & Associate Professor within the School of Dentistry at Kyungpook National University, South Korea. His studies focus on the role of osteoclasts in bone homeostasis as well as during the pathogenesis of skeletal diseases including osteoporosis and periodontitis. He is also interested in elucidating mechanisms by which the fate of mesenchymal stem cells is determined, particularly between osteogenic and adipogenic differentiation. In the laboratory, experiments mostly include genetically modified mice, diseases models, and in vitro culture of osteoclasts and osteoblasts. The omics approaches are also employed, for example, RNA sequencing and bioinformatic analyses of samples from cells, mice, and human patients.
