my Translation Rules - webinar training package 2017

In 2014 Dr Ingrid Hickman, in conjunction with the Brisbane Diamantina Health Partners (BDHP) launched the My Translation Rules annual awards designed to reward clinical Dietitians for their translational research efforts.

The awards have grown year on year with 8 health sites taking part in the 2017 event, which has inspired the production of a webinar training package to prepare applicants to run a translational research project in their practice.

To date, over 20 Dietitians have showcased some terrific examples of the 4 step process which involves:

  1. Identifying a clinical problem
  2. Critiquing the scientific literature to judge the quality of evidence in the field
  3. Implementing practice change
  4. Monitoring outcomes that best reflect real world, relevant change in practice

With the support of the BDHP and the TRI, the education package will be accessible across the metro north, metro south and mater hospital and health services and consists of four 1hr stand alone, yet consecutive webinars with 30 mins of content followed by a real world case study which complements this content. Queensland Health research fellows, staff from AusHSI and QUT and previous award winners from Brisbane hospitals have volunteered their time to help produce this professional development material for the MTR initiative.
