2023 GAME CHANGER SERIES SEMINAR #2

Join us for the second inspiring instalment of our popular TRI Game Changer Series for 2023. It will be an incredible opportunity to learn from internationally renowned expert Professor Alex Brown, who is challenging the status quo on inadequate representation of Indigenous populations in genomic research.

NAIDOC Week is the perfect impetus to hit the register link below and put aside one hour of Tuesday July 11 to be inspired by a truly world-class speaker on the topic of Empowering Indigenous Communities in Genomics. Even for those who aren’t focused on genomic research, the lessons and approaches that Professor Brown will discuss are highly applicable to all researchers. Undertaking research (including designing, engaging, undertaking and finally reporting back to indigenous communities) requires skill, deep understanding and engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Island Communities and this seminar provides a unique opportunity to gain insights from Professor Brown.

It is an extraordinary honour to welcome someone of Professor Brown’s calibre as our TRI Game Changer. Professor Brown blazed a trail as the inaugural Professor of Indigenous Genomics at the Australian National University and Telethon Kids Institute. With an enviable track record of delivering meaningful change, he has successfully driven programs that address health inequalities, including clinical epidemiology, health systems, implementation, mixed methods, bioethics and genomic research.

Indigenous health is an issue for us all.
