FameLab is one the biggest science communication competitions in the world. It aims to find, develop and mentor young science and engineering communicators.

If you are aged 18 or over, think you can explain a scientific concept in just 3 minutes and are interested in developing your presentation and communication skills, the British Council's FameLab competition is for you!

What is FameLab?

FameLab helps early-career researchers acquire valuable skills to communicate their work accessibly and attractively to a non-scientific audience.

In 2015 more than 5500 scientists and engineers took part in FameLab events across 25 countries.

The competition offers contestants training masterclasses, which focus on presentation and communication skills and aim to empower individual scientists and researchers to speak about their work.

How do I enter?

To enter the competition you'll need to

  • prepare and upload a short video showing you pitching your research topic in an interesting and compelling way
  • visit the FameLab website
  • complete and submit the site's online entry form—with a link to your short video—by Friday 19 February 2016.

What happens then?

If your video is selected, you could make it through to the Queensland semi-final, which is set for Wednesday 9 March 2016.

Visit the FameLab site more information on who can enter, the prizes you could win and more!
