TRI So Me Club Launch Seminar and Workshop

On the 24th Feb 2016 the TRI So Me Club will launch with a 1 hour seminar followed by a 1 hour introductory workshop where we will launch our first project. Join us for either or both sessions by registering at EventBrite.

Launch Seminar ... 2.30pm - 3.30pm

The seminar will define social media for the TRI network, demystifying some of the theories behind the usage of social networking software in a professional environment. We will look at theories like social capital, identity performance, social identity, digital sociology, network centrality, and how these theories influence our behaviour and usage of social networking software.

Case studies will be presented from the health and science space, specifically with examples from the MAYO Social Media in Healthcare Summit which our Digital Communications Officer attended in September 2015. These case studies will be used to introduce and explain our 3 social media projects for 2016.

Attendance is recommended to anyone interested in understanding the TRI strategic approach to digital communication and is not limited to TRI members or communications staff. Ideally, attendees will be from a broad cross section of TRI and will represent clinicians, researchers, administration and communications staff, partners, stakeholders and external networks.

Launch Workshop ... 3.30pm - 4.30pm

Immediately following the seminar will be an optional workshop for those wanting to get on with the practical usage of social media. In the initial workshop, we will introduce you to a Twitter hashtag mythbusters type project called "Science Says" and start to develop content for sharing under this hashtag.

Attendance to the workshop is recommended for those who will be using social media channels in their work directly. This includes comms staff, researchers, clinicians - anyone with a desire to learn how to improve their digital networking and technical skills.
